About The Event
www.dcpgonline.org. The hearing in Linkwood represents the best opportunity for Dorchester County residents to make their voices heard regarding public health, clean water, and restoration of the fragile ecosystem that the Valley Proteins Company has polluted. The Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) is about to issue a new permit covering Wastewater Discharge and Sludge Disposal at the Valley Protein (VP) rendering plant in Linkwood, Dorchester County, Maryland. If granted, the new permit will cover operations at the plant for the next five years.
Since 2014, VP has created numerous violations of discharge limits for nitrogen, phosphorus, and fecal coliform, including nearly 200 chlorine discharge violations unreported until recently.
